This piece was painted as my final for my intro to painting class. I have always been a show off so I made the biggest painting in the class. It is a collage of works by Breton, Rothko, and Magritte.

Inspired by Japanese Byobu screens, this piece was sold to a friend to commemorate his promotion to Captain on a Chicago Riverboat. This scene was inspired by the client's Japanese-inspired tattoo sleeve, also of a blue heron. Since I myself have experience working on the Chicago river, this piece aims to capture the industrial serenety of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.

THINKING OF BLUE

Isn't it a lovely shade of blue?

I believe in art that is messy and dirty and simple.

In the summer of 2023, I fell in love with the color blue. I bought a tube of blue blick tempera paint. Since then, blue is all I see. It's come to define my artistic philosophy. If you can't think of something to do, paint something blue.
